I love knitting cowls. They are quick and easy knitting projects that you can make in no time. If you don’t know hat a cowl is, it’s basically a scarf that loops in a circle around your neck. You get the warmth of a scarf without worrying about it falling off.
Without further ado, here are my favorites:
- Simple Yet Effective by Tincan Knits. This was my first cowl pattern and I love that it can be knit with only one skein of yarn. It alternates rows of knits and pearls for a cute ridged effect. It is designed for DK weights and comes in sizes from toddlers to adults, so you can make one for the whole family. The purple one that I’m wearing uses DK Weight Yarn from Brediculous Yarns in her Galaxy colorway. The pink one for my daughter is from Rozetti Yarns Polaris in the colorway Libra.
2. Oats by Tincan Knits
The Oats pattern is another great cowl from Tincan Knits. It’s defining features are the ridged columns created by pearl stitches on the sides of the cowl. It has has a more masculine feel to me, so I made one up for my Hubby and oldest son. I used Lion Brand Heartland in the Great Smokey Mountain for Dad and Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool Worsted in the colorway Pansy. It also comes in children’s and adult sizes.
3. The Cushy Cowl by Davina Choy. This is one of the fastest cowls you’ll ever make. It’s made using super bulky yarn and size 17 needles! There’s also a great YouTube tutorial that walks you through the instructions step by step. For this dark pink version I used Wisdom Yarns Poems Uno Superwash that I picked up from Tuesday Morning.
I hope you have a chance to knit up one of these amazing patterns!
I'd love to know what you think!
