Hello, Sewers,
I’m finally back on the blog! I know I’ve been away from the website for quite some time and I plan to come back and share my makes with you again in 2023. I hope your year is off to a great start and I hope you have your best sewing year ever!
Today, I’m sharing a quick review of the Nazare Jacket by Itch-to-Stitch Sewing Patterns. This is my first make of the year and I had the privilege of being a pattern tester for it before its release.
This pattern is available in sizes 00- 40 for bust sizes 35 inches through 66 inches. It also encompasses hip sizes of 33 inches through 62 inches. There’s also quite a bit of ease in this pattern and it should fit a wide range of figures.
This is a fun and easy jacket designed for midweight knit fabric such as ponte-knit, sweatshirting, French terry, interlock, and double-brushed poly.
There are only eight pattern pieces for this pattern including:
- Top Front-cut twice
- Bottom Front- cut twice
- Back-cut one on the fold
- Sleeve-cut twice
- Hood – cut twice
- Pocket-cut twice
- Sleeve Cuff – cut twice
- Bottom Band – 1 on fold or two
There are also regular and full-bust cup options. If your bust measurements are three inches or fewer between your upper bust and full bust measurement you’ll sew the regular bust cup option. If the difference between your full bust and upper bust measurements is greater than three inches then you would use the full bust cup option. You’ll need a separating zipper, twill tape, and fusible stay tape to complete this pattern as well. There is a chart that tells you what length of zipper you will need for your bust cup size as it will be shorter or longer depending on the size and bust cup combination you select.
I sewed a size 12 in the regular bust option and graded out to a size 16 at the hip. I also shortened the sleeves as well as the front and back pieces by a half inch for my height. I’m 5’1″ tall for reference.
I used a blizzard polar fleece that I’ve had in my stash forever from Jo-Ann Fabrics. The zipper is a 20-inch Coats & Clark Zipper, also from Jo-Ann’s. If you’d like to sew a Nazare Jacket for yourself you can pick one up here: Nazare Jacket by Itch-to-Stitch Patterns. (affiliate link).

Coming up next …..
I’m currently working on my makes for the #BHMPatternDesigners Challenge hosted by the lovely Nateida of SewNaturalDane. I am one of the ambassadors for this amazing Instagram sewing challenge where sewists are encourage to sew up a sewing pattern created by a Black sewing designer in the month of February for Black History Month. I’ve participate in this challenge for the last four years and this year there is a live event this year in Houston, Texas to celebrate it’s fifth year anniversary. There will be some amazing sewing classes, a pattern swap and a fun meet-up the day before the event. You may register here: Event Registration.

I’m looking forward to sharing these makes with you here soon.
Until next time,
Happy Sewing!
I'd love to know what you think!
