Hello my fellow sewists:
I’m popping in today to share with you a quick review of the Love Notions Rhapsody Dress. This is a great pattern with many options to sew a garment to meet your own individual style. This dress comes in both a dress and blouse option with nine different sleeve styles.
Fabric: I chose to sew the dress version in a lovely confetti woven print that I purchased a few years ago on Craftsy/Bluprint. It has a dark background with large orange and yellow flowers that gives it a cool seventies vibe.
The pattern with its cute front bow, gives me a groovy feeling as well; a perfect match for this dress.
Size: I sewed a size medium. The pattern suggests you choose your size according to your upper bust measurement. My upper bust measurement is 34″ and the size medium calls for a 35″ measurement with a finished hip of 46″: perfect for me. I decided to sew the 3/4 sleeve option with the cuffed hem so that I can easily transition this piece from Summer to Fall.
Pattern Changes: I raised the waistline by 1.5 inches and the hemline by 3 inches since I am short-waisted and 5’1″ inches tall.
Styling: I chose to wear this dress with the faux suede yellow heels that I purchased from DSW last year. I love the ruffle detail on the front of these shoes and I have certainly worn them way more than I ever expected. They add a bit of sunshine to any outfit!
