Pattern Description: Lulu is a loose-fitting, slightly A-line shift dress and top with two sleeve lengths. (from website)
Pattern Sizing: 8-20
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes, it looked exactly like the photo on the pattern instruction pamphlet.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the pattern instructions were very clear and straight forward.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the ease of this pattern and the slight shaping in the bust area from the gathers. I liked how it it grades out from the waist to hips. The only minor dislike is that the keyhole opening doesn’t lie entirely flat. I added a little interfacing to help it lay down and it helps some, but it still pops out a little. You also had to hand stitch the neck binding which took some time, but I didn’t mind it much.
Fabric Used: A charcoal gray cotton lawn with pink and white flowers from Mood Fabrics, NYC.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I graded from a size 10 at the bust into a size 12 at the waist and hips. I also added a little interfacing to the keyhole facing to help it lay a little flatter.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would definitely sew it again, possibly using the top version. I might take in the keyhole opening just a tad as well.
The Shoes: The shoes are Bandolino Jillie’s. I picked up these shoes up at a second-hand store last year because I liked the unique color and the cute side flowers. The gray from the pattern of this fabric and the pink flowers help to match these shoes with the dress.
Conclusion: I truly enjoyed sewing up this dress. This was a quick and easy make and a great beginner friendly pattern. I can see myself wearing this tons this Spring and early Summer. I highly recommend it.
