Hello friends,
I hope you are well and enjoying bright and warm spring days. Today, I am sharing a quick review of Butterick 6330. This is a fun and easy knit pattern, great for sewers who are new to using knit fabrics.
Pattern Details
This pattern is part of the Sew Wardrobe Series of tutorials that I’ve created with Tea of Crumpets, Tea and Sewing on YouTube. We previously, did tutorials on different views of Simplicity 8265 which included a skirt, tunic and jacket.
Butterick 6330 has several views to make an entire outfit using one pattern. You can create a mini or maxi dress, a shorts or pants jumpsuit and a relaxed waterfall style jacket. I chose view C for my dress. The available finished measurements for this view have finished measurements of busts from 33 through 51 inches bust and hips of 37.5 to 55 inches.
Sewing and Pattern Changes
I used a gorgeous Fiery Red Cheetah Print Viscose Jersey from Sewmuchfabric.com for this look. It was easy to work with and the fabric is bright and bold for this year’s Sew Bold, Sew Bright #sewmaxiformothersday theme. I sewed a size medium and only had to make a few pattern changes to get this pattern to fit my frame. I shorted the waist by 1.25 inches at the hip line for my torso length and I added 1/2 inch to the side seams for a little more give in the hips. Check out my full video tutorial on how to sew this dress and how I made these modifications here:
Final Thoughts
I think you’ll love sewing up this quick and easy knit dress. You can style this dress up with a blazer for work or down with flat sandals on a beach vacation.
