Hello Everyone:
I wanted to pop in and share my review of the Love Notions Cadence Dress and how I styled it for fall and winter. I love maxi dresses and wear them extensively throughout the spring and summer. However, I’ve never worn one in the fall. I thought I’d remedy this situation by figuring out a way to rock it all season long. The Cadence sewing pattern has enough options for me to bring this idea to life. (Check out my #sewmaxiformothersday post for more maxi-style).

Pattern Details
The Cadence is a shift-style top and dress pattern designed for light to mid-weight woven fabrics. It’s perfect for rayon challis, lightweight cotton, lightweight linens, and flowy chiffons. It comes in sizes XS-XXL for high bust measurements of 31″-47″ and full bust measurements of 34″-52″. It has three length options including shirt length, knee-length, and maxi-length (with knee-length side slits). There are also several sleeve styles including sleeveless, short, 3/4 with or without flounce, and long-sleeve with an elastic band. You can also decide between a scooped neckline or the notched v-neckline and add a casing with a drawstring to cinch in the waist. Full and standard bust sizes are available for this pattern as well.
Sewing
There are only a few pattern pieces for this pattern. These include front, back sleeves, and facings. There are front bust darts and shaping on the back. The directions were clear and easy to follow with bright color photos and clear markings for side slit placement and facing attachments. There are no fussy closures like zippers or buttons as the dress slips over the head with ease.
Fabric
I used a gorgeous red rayon challis from Nicole Elise Fabrics to bring out the patterns design. It has a gorgeous snakeskin print in fan-like shapes. I used a size 65 Universal sewing needle to sew this lightweight piece and I didn’t have any problems with skipped stitches or puckering. Styling
In order to make this summer-style dress more fall-friendly, I decided to add some warm layers underneath the dress. First, I added a turtleneck and black Not Your Daughter’s jeans as a base. Next, remembered I had the cutest snakeskin booties and earrings that matched the print perfectly and added those to the mix. Finally, I added a cute thrifted belt and my favorite silver bangle to enhance the look even further. I love how each of these pieces works together for this relaxed look.
