Happy Friday,
Today, I am sharing the news of the updated Boyfriend Cardigan Pattern by Love Notions Patterns. This pattern has just been re-released and includes some exciting changes.
Pattern Details
A cardigan is a wardrobe staple and is great for transitioning between seasons. The Boyfriend Cardigan now comes in extended sizes with a new pattern range from XS-5X. There is also a new duster length option on top of the existing hip length view. In addition, a straight collar version was introduced to go with the shawl and hoodie necklines. There are also nice deep pockets and options for standard and full bust bodices included with the pattern.
Sewing and Pattern Changes
This is a fun knit cardigan pattern designed for mid-weight knits and I created two cute versions. The first was made in a lightweight cotton rib knit from my stash that I believe I picked from the Maryland Chapter of the American Sewing Guild‘s annual meeting. Each year, they have fabric swap table where you make a small donation to their annual public service cause. Last year’s project was creating duffle bags for foster girls. I always walk away with some great fabrics and feel great about supporting a good cause. Anyway, that’s where I believe I picked up this nice rib knit. It sewed up nicely in the shawl, thigh length version. I sewed a size small at the bust area and then graded-out to a size medium at the waist and hips. I love the fit on me!
The second version was made in a teal cotton knit from Jo-Ann Fabrics. I love this shade of blue because it always reminds me of the ocean and Caribbean vacations. I made the hooded version with same pattern alterations as the white version. Hoods are perfect when you’re out and about on days when there may be a little rain in the forecast. I wore this cardigan with some fun teal sandals that a picked up from TJ Maxx a few years ago and even matched up my eyeshadow using the Juvia’s Place Palette in the color Zola. Final Thoughts
I enjoyed sewing up these quick and easy cardigan patterns. I know I’ll wear the white version with several outfits as white cardigans go with almost everything in my casual wardrobe. The teal/turquoise version will be an added pop of color that I need to enhance a basic monochrome outfit. I love it when one piece can upgrade a basic look.
This pattern is this week’s $5 Feature Friday pattern and you can pick it up for $5 today! It will continue to be on sale throughout this weekend for $9 and will return to its normal pricing of $12 after the weekend. The girls version in sizes 2T-16 is also included in the sale.
