Hello my fellow sewists,
I wanted to share my review of the Ravinia Skirt pattern by Love Notions Patterns. This is a cute skirt pattern designed for light to medium weight knit fabrics. There are three length options; knee, calf and maxi, as well three waistband options, yoga, contour and maternity. It is available for hip sizes 34 to 58.5 inches.
I decided to sew the knee length version with a yoga waistband and cut out a size large based on my measurements. I chose a cute crepe knit that I had leftover from a sewing a Lago Tank Maxi dress.
This fabric has little more weight than the pattern’s design, but it still has excellent drape. As a result, I had to add an extra two inches to the width of the waistband. I also shortened the dress by one and half inches to adjust for my height. I finished the hem with a three-thread rolled hem in black. Serger rolled hems are quickly becoming my favorite finish for casual knit skirts and dresses as it doesn’t interrupt the flow of the print design and is completed in no time!
This is a quick and easy sew with a ton of options and I can see it becoming my go-to pattern for knit skirts. You can pick it up on the Love Notions website. (This is an affiliate link, I receive a small commission from your purchase. Thank you for your support).
